1. Welcome from Nancy DiGiovanni, Young Adult and Campus Ministry
Program Associate
Was February busy for you? It sure was busy for me. I spent the
month traveling to many parts of the country to many conferences-and
only now, do I see there was a theme amongst them all. In Early
February, I was in the Metro NY district for a very important district
conversation about the Consultation on Ministry to and with Youth. It
was wonderful to see familiar faces and take part in that amazing
afternoon of denomination-changing discussions in a group that was about
half youth and half adults!
The next weekend I was off to Atlanta, GA for Interweave's
Convocation. Five young adults and current and former YRUU office staff
members Laura Manning and Jason Lydon joined me at this conference for
queer-identified UUs. The Interweave Board, YRUU and YACM offices
collaborated this year to create more age and gender diversity at
Convocation. I was thrilled to be there, and acknowledged the profound
importance of intergenerational conferences in my young adult life
experience.
The last weekend of February took me to San Diego for the 1st
Contemporary Worship Conference. This event was a HUGE success and I
once again witnessed the beauty of an intentional intergenerational
community. So I send this message out to you to remind you that
intentional intergenerational community makes for authentic
intergenerational community. I'm patenting that phrase (if it isn't
already). I know bridging those gaps can be difficult and awkward, but I
beseech you to keep working at it! We have to intentionally create the
reality we wish to enjoy. Seek out a conversation or sustain a
relationship with someone outside your peer group; encourage your young
adult group to invite the youth group and the advisors to charades and
hot chocolate one night at the church; do something this month that
takes you out of the ordinary and into the unfamiliar-because you might
be as pleasantly surprised as I was this past month. If this is
something you already do regularly, inspire it in others as much as
possible this month. As Mahatma Gandhi said, "be the change you wish to
see in the world". The vision we share for UUism to be an empowering,
intergenerational denomination can begin with you.

3. Opportunities from the Church of the Larger Fellowship
You may know the Church of the Larger Fellowship (CLF) as the UU
church in cyberspace, or you might have heard of the Church of the
YOUNGER Fellowship (CYF), which is a part of the CLF. The Church of the
Larger Fellowship (CLF)
offers its members multiple opportunities for online community
through Shared Interest Groups.
What is a Shared Interest Group?
CLF Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) are email lists for CLF
members designed to make a place for community, connection and
reflection between people who share something in common, whether it be a
theological standpoint such as paganism or a shared experience such as
retirement.
* An online community for gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or
transgender CLF members
* A CLF small group for those facing life-changing illness
* A group for CLF members who live outside the United
States
* A shared interest group for CLF members with issues
related to mental illness
* A discussion group for CLF members who identify as UU
Christians
* A discussion group for CLF members who identify as UU
humanists
* A discussion group for CLF members interested in
Earth-Centered spirituality
Why should you encourage people join the CLF or the CYF?
Shared Interest Groups are one of many resources available at
the Church of the Larger Fellowship. Your CLF membership offers you UU
spirituality, education, and resources 24/7, while at the same time your
membership brings Unitarian Universalism to isolated UUs all over the
world.

4. Interfaith Youth Core seeks Director of Outreach, Education, and
Training
Interfaith Youth Core has developed a unique and proven
methodology for building relationships between students of different
faith backgrounds on campus and in faith and civic communities, focusing
on the common ground of shared values and service-learning. The Director
of Outreach, Education and Training (OET) will drive the development of
programs around this methodology and the outreach to meet the strategic
goal of engaging 70,000 interfaith service participants and reaching 20%
of U.S. colleges and universities over the next 5 years. The Director of
OET will report to the Vice President of Programs.
Interfaith Youth Core's innovative, service learning-based
products and services leverage our expertise in running programs to
build institutional and individual capacity to run effective interfaith
youth work. IFYC currently provides its three integral segments -
College and University Campuses, Independent Secondary Schools, and
Faith-based and Civic Leaders - with speeches and event trainings. In
addition, we are developing several products, including research toward
a set of criteria toward which colleges and university campuses should
aspire as well as training programs specific to independent high school
educators, civic leaders, and religious leaders.
Inquiries, applications, and nominations should be directed to
the search consultants for this effort:
