1. Welcome from Nancy DiGiovanni, Program Associate for the UUA Young
Adult and Campus Ministry Office

As we enter fall, I find myself reflecting on the busy summer I
enjoyed as the new Program Associate for the Young Adult and Campus
Ministry Office of the UUA. Having spent the past 3 years in volunteer
leadership positions for C*UUYAN (Continental UU Young Adult Network),
it was a pretty smooth transition as I moved into the office. It
sometimes doesn't feel quite real-when I think that a few months ago, I
was attending the potlucks of two Young Adult groups in New Jersey and
now here I am, asking those very same people to call me with questions,
comments, and requests for support. This brings me to request the same
of anyone reading this newsletter. Please contact me at the YACM office
at 617-948-4629. Introduce yourself, especially if you are a veteran or
new YACM staff member at your congregation of college/university. Tell
me who you are, what your group is doing and how the YACM office can
support you. Tell me if you're a volunteer and are struggling to make
more than 5 people show up.

I seek to engender a better understanding and more genuine and
authentic relationship between the YACM office, the C*UUYAN Steering
Committee (SC) and Conferences Planning Committee (CPC) and the many
Young Adults who they represent in our congregations and this continent.
My friend Brenda Lovette, currently at UNC-Chapel Hill, became a
district representative the first time I invited her to a C*UUYAN event
several years ago. She called me the other day and said, "Nancy, I just
went [to a local YA group] and they didn't know about the YACM office up
there in Boston. They didn't know about the anti-racism
workshops/trainings, Opus, ConCentric, financial support--I told them
all about it!" She immediately put them in contact with me, facilitating
the kind of grassroots outreach that will unite local young adults with
the YACM office and C*UUYAN.

Thank you ALL for the outreach you do and the support you
provide in any capacity for young adults.

You may notice a significant change to YA News. We are now
sending out an abbreviated version via email with links to the
information you need. You can find the extended version with more
detailed descriptions of postings on our site at

	In communion,
	Nancy DiGiovanni
