=========================================================

1. Welcome from Mary Manchester, C*UUYAN Steering Committee Facilitator

========================================================

Dear UU young adults and allies,

The Steering Committee met with the Conferences Planning Committee April 7-10 at Camp Mardela in Denton, MD. We made a plan for how the CUUYAN business process can be more transparent, thanks to a suggestion from the Campus Ministry Advisory Committee, and we are taking steps to put that plan into action.

We also took initiative with a bridging project with which we wish to bring more Young Adults in the transitional age range (18-21) to Opus, and to provide specific programming on "making CUUYAN home." We are offering between $1000 and $1500 for scholarships to bring folks in this age range to Opus. Please stay tuned for more information on these scholarships, or contact the Steering Committee at ideas at uuyan.org .

All the best,

Mary Manchester

C*UUYAN Steering Committee Facilitator

The Office of Young Adult and Campus Ministry is looking for a few good people to help promote young adult ministry at GA! Let's bring the conversation about young adult and campus ministry out of its current niches and into the whole denomination!

Opus 2006 - Heartstrings: Welcome Home - August 11-16, 2006

What is the meaning of family? What are we willing to do to find our true home? Is it a comfort to know that you are never truly alone, or do you seek the peacefulness of solitude? Are we each wanderers in search of home, or do we try to create it where we are right now? No matter what home and hearth mean to us, many of us seek a sacred space for solace, for joy, and for serenity. Come join a community of friends and peers at Heartstrings: Welcome Home, this year's spiritual retreat for C*UUYAN. Here we will explore our own dreams of family, the power of friendship, and the resilience of home.

ConCentric 2006: Spark the Spirit - Ignite the Fire - Be the Force for Change will offer leaders the opportunity to nurture their spirit and learn skills to empower the communities they work with to be the force for change.
