1. Welcome from Joseph Santos-Lyons, Director of Campus Ministry and
Field Organizing
==================================================================
Greetings all,
As the summer ends many of us are experiencing fall change with work,
school, and family. I am leaving for Manila for six months to be the
student minister with the UU Church of the Philippines. Michael Tino
returns full-time, Nancy DiGiovanni is our new Program Associate, and
Erik Kesting continues as our wonderful Assistant. Our 9th annual
ConCentric business and leadership conference is wrapping up, and it has
me thinking...
What does it mean to you to be Unitarian Universalist? Is there such a
thing as a "good" Unitarian Universalist? Do you seek to improve
yourself, to search for truth and meaning in order to grow and change?
Young adult and campus ministry continues to deepen and broaden its
reach into the hearts and minds of UUs age 18-35 and allies, promoting
study, worship, spiritual practice, and mentorship in our liberal
religious faith, our living tradition. What does this mean? How do
newcomers connect with our history? How do we all strengthen our
Unitarian Universalist life? Let me suggest a two part question, "What
in your life is UU and why?"
Go in peace,
Joseph Santos-Lyons
Director of Field Organizing and Campus Ministry

6. 2006 Young Adult and Campus Ministry Professionals Seminar
=========================================================
Unitarian Universalist Campus and Young Adult Ministry is one of the
significant institutional and religious commitments to providing
spiritual care, growth, and community for a transitional population
within and external to our member congregations. Managing the
development of and nurturing vibrant campus/young adult ministry is an
extraordinary challenge with inconsistent funding, few mentors, and
minimal history. This seminar not only provides intimate connections
with others active as staff (paid or volunteer) but teaches the
principles, philosophies, and frameworks of successful campus/young
adult ministry groups and congregational programs.
Seminar meets via teleconference Tuesdays at 7:30 PM Eastern Time from
October 31 through December 5, 2006. For more details and to register,
visit http://www.connectuu.com/events.php?action=view&event_id=1018.

9. Young Adult Survey! Pass it on!
=========================================================
We invite you to take 20 minutes of your day to complete our 2006 Survey
of UU Young Adults. The survey is designed to help the UUA Office of
Young Adult & Campus Ministry better serve the community. Help us
faithful people build. There are 34 questions, 2 of which are open-ended
inviting you to give a longer answer. It will also help us better
understand the demographics of the UU Young Adult community.
The survey will be open from June 20th, 2006 through September 8th,
2006. Our goal is to receive 1000 responses. To accomplish this, we need
your help. In addition to your completion of the survey, would you send
this to 3 friends you know? We seek to have all UUs age 18-35 complete
the survey, regardless if they are "involved" in young adult activities.
Some of the questions are designed specifically for persons not
involved, to learn more why. A section of the survey also asks about the
needs and aspirations of young adults.
The 2006 Survey of UU Young Adults is available online only at:
http://express.perseus.com/perseus/surveys/1734848031/68c3197a.htm
Please circulate this with your local congregation and groups as you are
able. Your personal touch is a great help.
In peace,
Joseph Santos-Lyons
UUA Director of Field Organizing and Campus Ministry
